Lubricating Locks
All locks require a bit of TLC. As a general rule it is a good practice to lubricate the latchbolt and keyway every six months. We find that locks particularly in the South, tend to dry out when the seasons change from hot to cold and vice versa. This applies as much to automotive door locks as it does to external building locks. We recommend WD40 or Inox for most applications, but check with your manufacturer (lock instructions), supplier or local locksmith as some makes require specific lubricants.
